explanation of fee structure

i offer my services on a sliding scale. i do this because i believe that everyone deserves access to care.

this offering is an act of trust. i trust you to select the fee that honestly reflects your financial situation. keep in mind that the highest tier of payment reflects the *actual* cost of service. because i have my own necessities to cover, i am only able to offer a limited number of lower-cost services each month. if you select a lower-cost tier when you are actually able to afford a higher tier, you are reducing access for folx who truly need it. 

there's a distinction between sacrifice and hardship. might you have to choose between one of my services and a fancy dinner out or a concert ticket? this is a sacrifice, and one that may well be worth your while. or are you having to choose between one of my services and putting food on the table, or paying your electricity bill, or thrifting clothes for your child because they've outgrown everything? this is a hardship. we all can make sacrifices, but no one should face hardship.
